American School of London - 10th December 2025

We began the session by discussing the recent news. We talked about the Budget and the impact on people from across society, in addition to the recent law that Australia has passed banning social media for under 16s. Students had some interesting thoughts on this and primarily felt that it would be impossible to enforce.

For our warm-up questions, we looked at what students regarded as their favourite activity in school and also how their friends would describe them. We then had a discussion about the difficulty it can be in promoting oneself and the confidence needed to do so.

Our main debate of the day looked at the motion, 'this House believes that air travel has had a greater impact on the world than the internet'. In addition to this, the focus of the week was looking at body language. There were some strong arguments put forward here, with excellent POIs and interesting post debate analysis.

We finished the session having a group discussion about whether parents should enforce bedtimes, with the general agreement that they should, but this should also be relaxed as children get older.

A great final session before the holiday break, well done everyone!
