Cameron Vale School - 10th June 2025

This was a very good review session week – from proposition to opposition roles and key body language skills to persuasive language techniques. Our newsround took in Mount Etna eruptions, sporting news, and the Musk-Trump split.

Our unseen of the week featured an image from the 1944 D-Day Landings. We reflected on the sacrifice and bravery displayed and the impact on the world from that historic occasion.

Debating motions took in the topics/questions:

·         World Ocean Day and what we should be doing? – from recycling to reducing plastic use.

·         ‘Should all new homes have solar panels?’ following the education secretary/department policy

·         Should all schools have residentials?

·         Following the Musk-Trump split, we turned to the motion ‘This House would not have unelected members of the public joining governments’

·         This House would extend Forest School into primary and secondary level learning – some in the groups liked the idea, particularly linking to science, whilst others thought this impractical countrywide.

Well done all on impressive contributions throughout.
