Kensington Wade School Debating & Interview Clubs - 17th & 21st June

Another great round of sessions this week in our Kensington Wade groups. We focussed on Team work for our skill of the week and how best to use them within a debate discussion or competition.

For our warm interview style philosophical question we asked whether children thought that letter writing remained important - should we still learn to write by hand?

Many felt this was a vital skill going back to ancient times and should be retained; whilst others argued for the use of touch-typing and modern technology for communication.

Our newsround saw reference to the Euros, Macron's calling of snap elections in France, the UK General election, the T20 cricket world cup and the Olympics.

Our main debate in the Senior session looked at the motion:

'This House thinks Elon Musk's $56bn pay deal is too much'.

Voting divided 50/50.

Many felt that this was his business and would be nothing without his efforts and therefore he was entitled to whatever was decided. Others felt it was too much and worried that many in the company would not be properly remunerated by contrast.

Well done on tremendous sessions!
