St Andrew's School - 19th & 26th January 2026

The group is going from strength to strength. On skills we have looked at unseen work, from paintings of Henry VIII and Napoleon, as well as pre-empting opposition/proposition points.

We have discussed the power of AI, with questions around robots, as well as wider interview/philosophical questions, for instance ‘if one had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be and why?’

We have asked what a ‘regime’ is? & whether we should continue to invest in space research?

Our newsrounds have been extensive, from protests in Iran, to Greenland and Davos reportage, as well as football tournaments and upsets.

Debating motions have included:

·         ‘This House would consult with children first before changing the laws on social media/phone use for children’

·         ‘This House would ban fast fashion’

·         ‘Is it ever ok to copy someone’s work?’

·         ‘Is it better to be kind or right?’

& given potential changes to trial by jury in England and Wales, ‘would you rather be judged by your class teacher or by your peers?'

Very well done all!
