St Philip's School - 9th September 2025

This was a super start to the term with our debating club at St Philip’s. It was very good to begin the academic year with such enthusiasm and impressive argumentation and to see old and new faces alike.

Current affairs took in the resignation of the deputy Prime Minister and government national smartphone alert/testing.

Our warm-up questions looked at highlights from the holidays from family time to travel and sporting activities.

Our skill focus turned to the building-blocks of proposition and opposition argumentation as well as body language, and rhetorical questions.

Our set-piece motions and philosophical topics/questions included:

·         ‘This House would choose to be famous’

·         Is it ok to make mistakes in Public life/Politics?

Well done all on an excellent start to the term.
