WCCS - 17th March 2026

We warmed up in our last session with 'What I would change if I was the headteacher.' It was fascinating to hear their ideas on playground equipment, the length of break but also which subjects that they would like more of.

We then turned to the world's happiest countries (with Finland at the top for nearly a decade). The students guessed which the happiest countries would be and gave reasons for their choices, often backing up their choice with first hand experience of said location. We then looked at the actual top ten happiest countries and there were some surprising ones. We then discussed what makes them happy as individuals. This conversation was supported with some choice cards that they had to sort into categories. The boys chose to do this in pairs and they discussed and articulated their thoughts well.

Our debate was on 'This house would make it compulsory for top level football players to make charitable donations.' This was quite a faced paced debate and our skill of the week was raising good 'points of interest' and responding well to them. The boys really took this in their stride and it made for an interesting and thought provoking session. All boys discussed their beliefs with a pleasing level of confidence.
