This was a great start to the term with our debating and interview clubs. It was super to see old and new faces alike as we begin the new academic year.
Current affairs took in the resignation of the deputy Prime Minister, to international meetings in China and France and the tragic earthquakes in Afghanistan.
Our warm-up questions looked at highlights from the holidays and goals for the Michaelmas term.
Our skill focus turned to the building-blocks of proposition argumentation.
Our set-piece motions and philosophical topics/questions included:
· ‘This House would give names for storms’
· ‘How do you know the moon isn’t made of cheese?’
· ‘With China’s navy expanding, should the US be doing more?’
· ‘Why has the price of good become more expensive – should government do more?’
· ‘Is chess a sport?’ &
· ‘Is it good to be bilingual?’
Very well done all on a super start to the term.
