St Kitts International Academy Debating & Public Speaking Club - 17th March 2026

A very good session with extensive newsround discussion as well as plenty of thought provoking ideas on what the group would do if they had the power to be the head of their school and make changes; as well as discussing their hobbies outside of school.

On skills we turned to POIs and how best to use these important points.

In addition to a newsround featuring an earthquake in Cuba, the conflict with Iran and the Oscars, we debated the motions/topics:

·       This House believes that cinema/film is more important than ballet and opera

·       This House believes that extracurricular activities are as important as Mathematics and English

In each case we voted before and after and it was very encouraging to see/hear continued impressive active listening, detailed proposition and opposition argumentation and a willingness to consider both sides of the argument. Well done!
