In today’s session we started by reviewing the recent situation in Kashmir between India and Pakistan, in addition to other news, such as the Reform party leading in local council elections and the cyber attack on Marks and Spencer.
Following on from this, the class then had a discussion on what they would do if they were Prime Minister for the day, each given a turn to individually speak. They came up with a variety of reasons, from putting on soup kitchens to improving transport, whilst also giving their reasons why. We then discussed if playing a musical instrument should be compulsory for all children, with most agreeing that everyone should have access to it in some form.
Our two main debates of the day looked at whether we should live in a cashless society and also if the selection of the Pope should extend beyond the cardinals. The latter argument was handled sensitively and it was impressive to see the students deal with this matter in a mature manner. Our skills focus of the day was on body language, with some excellent improvement across the group. Very well done all!
