Cameron Vale School (Junior and Senior Debating Club) - 20th May 2025

We have had a great first half of term with our debating groups at Cameron Vale.

For skills this week we turned our attention to closing statements. It was super to see the groups implement our skills covered this term during the session, from POIs to rhetorical questions. 

Warm-up questions included: 

• 'Is it better to be right or better to be kind?'

• 'Describe/discuss a topic that you have been working on recently at school or at home'

We then divided into teams for our set-piece debates. The motions:

'This House believes audio books are better than printed books';

'This House would invest in nuclear energy for the AI industry'; 

'This House thinks that theatre/plays are better than cinema/movies';

'This House would have pets in the workplace and at school to raise morale'. 

Our unseen-'on this day' example this week looked at three images connected to the execution of Anne Boleyn.
