An excellent session with St. Andrew’s who held a thought-provoking debate today. Everyone has come far since the beginning of term and it is wonderful to see the students using rhetorical questions, personal stories and be ready with a well considered POI for their opponents.
We started the session with an initial recap of the power of using lists, particularly in conclusions, and then introduced the zero-Covid policy in China. After a group discussion about this we broke into two teams to debate if the pursuit of zero Covid was positive or negative. The students are mastering the rhythm of debating and confidently presented their arguments.
We were impressed by the considered arguments, drawing on personal and societal experiences, and with the student's rebuttals to the POIs.
