St. Kitts International Academy Debating & Public Speaking Club (In-person) - 22nd April 2025

The Socratic club was delighted to run an in-person session with our St Kitts International Academy debating and public speaking club.

We began with an extensive newsround, including discussion of the recent passing of the Pope, to Spring Break stories of family time and international travel. 

Our central debates covered the recent all women Blue Origin space mission and whether junk food and sugary treats should be banned in schools. 

As ever the group debated with impressive argumentation and also excellent active listening. 

On skills we worked on persuasive language techniques to help with audience engagement. 

The session also gave an opportunity to present in-person debating certificates for those that had successfully achieved debating grades!
